The Past Five Days…

…And a bit of today. Warning, this has quite a few images through it. It’s obvious from my blog lately that I have been just a tad busy. This month is a little more scheduled than the past few months.

I know the calendar seems empty now, but my husbands demands are on a completely different calendar.

Last week, on Monday, my cat, which we thought was spayed when be adopted her gave birth to five beautiful kittens.

Today, at a week old, they are starting to get chunky and I’m starting to consider possibly keeping one. They’re just too adorable not to think about it.

On Thursday, after my husband got home from a very long day on the range (the field in Ft. Stewart) we went and adopted our new, and also extremely cute 5 week old rats. The tan and white is Andromeda; Kevin named her, and the black cutie is Ari.

I know you’re probably thinking ‘this couple is crazy. One adult cat, five kittens, one 4 month old, and now two rats. What are they thinking?’ I think it’s pretty clear my husband and I adore animals. Before the rats we had two ferrets. But I have to admit, we weren’t the best ferrents- ferret parents. Thankfully, I sort of grew up with pet rats. My mom would buy the feeder rats from a pet store that isn’t around anymore. We had Beth first then Buffy; keeping them both the full length of their life. Rats are amazing animals and extremely smart. Andromeda and Ari have an awesome cage, thanks to my amazing husband and my wonderful crocheting skills. I’m so happy that I have rats again. My little cuties.

Saturday, my friend Anna and I went to a children’s clothing swap so I could find some bigger clothing along with some summer stuff for Lydia. I found an amazing amount of clothing for her. Going to this swap inspired me to start hosting swaps. I haven’t exactly figure it all out yet, but I know where I could host it, and I know that I would like to have the clothing that is getting swapped dropped off at least three days before so I can try and get any stains out and make sure everything is clean. I’ll work out the details on a day I don’t have anything going on.

Today, I went through my list of daily tasks and have just one load of laundry left for me to put away. But I know I won’t have enough hangars to hang everything up, which means I have to go through all my clothes again because I have so much. I also made the dough for my tantalizing Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies but this time without the dark chocolate and substituting the egg for 1/4 cup of applesauce. Let me just say, if you make peanut butter cookies a lot, DO NOT make them with an egg. I know generally when you substitute applesauce you should use unsweetened applesauce, but I don’t eat it unless it has cinnamon in it, and it made the cookie dough amazing! At least I know because it’s made with applesauce, peanut butter, and sugar I can eat it without the chance of salmonella. Has anyone actually been diagnosed with salmonella from eating raw cookie dough? I think it’s a lie. I have yet to bake the cookies because I put the dough into the freezer (in hopes I wouldn’t want to eat anymore of the dough.) Who am I kidding? The other day I made sugar cookie dough and instead of baking cookies, over 3 days I snacked on the dough. Stay at home mom problems.

Well, I don’t want to bore you all any longer with my boring past week. I’ll hopefully have some recipes for everyone to try next week, after we grocery shop. Until then, I have kittens, rats, and an upset baby to tend to. Oh my gosh, she’s four months old tomorrow!

Talk to everyone soon!

Kittens

Sorry for not posting lately, my cat gave birth!

It’s a long story. Last year, my husband and I adopted a cat from someone off of the dreaded Craigslist. She was and still is, a beautiful split face Torbie or a Tortoiseshell Tabby. Anywho, the woman told me she had been spayed and had her first set of shots. She had always tried to run out the front door or the sliding door to the (horribly) screened in patio. After we had Lydia, we let both of our cats, Emma and Killian come in and out of the house as they pleased.

24 days ago, I found Emma laying upstairs by the mailboxes for our apartment looking fat. I immediately brought her inside, and having had a pregnant cat when I was younger, I knew she was pregnant. So I trapped her inside only letting her out every now and again. She would only go back upstairs, so I never had to worry about not being able to find her.

Last night, after almost a month of waiting and telling her to have them before Lydia turns 4 months, she started having kittens around 4:30pm. I am so excited to be able to take Lydia’s four month pictures with some baby kittens. So far, Emma has had 6, unfortunately one passed; now we have 1 black and white, one all black, and 3 orange/tan kittens. I think she may have one or two more waiting to make their appearance, but we’ll see. The kittens will be ready for their new homes on or a few days before September 27th.

For now, I hope you all enjoy this picture of kittens!
